Cast
Benedict Cumberbatch stars in the intense new Netflix thriller Eric, launching globally on May 30th. Set in 1980s New York, Cumberbatch plays Vincent, a heartbroken father desperately seeking his missing young son.
This UK-produced, US-filmed series comes from Abi Morgan, the writer behind “The Split,” and the production company Sister, known for their work on “Chernobyl.”
Storyline
The series boasts a talented cast including Gaby Hoffman, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler, and Phoebe Nicholls, alongside Clarke Peters, Ivan Howe, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar, and Roberta Colindrez.
Eric is one of several dramas featured in Netflix‘s strong UK lineup, which includes the adaptation of “One Day” and the forthcoming superhero show “Supacell.”
In this emotional thriller, Vincent, a puppeteer and children’s TV personality, grapples with the disappearance of his son Edgar.
Overwhelmed by guilt, he seeks solace in Edgar’s drawings of a blue monster puppet named Eric. Vincent becomes convinced that featuring Eric on television will hold the key to finding his son.
As his erratic behavior drives a wedge between him and those around him, Eric emerges as his sole companion in his unwavering quest.
Eric is executive produced by Abi Morgan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke, and director Lucy Forbes. Holly Pullinger serves as producer. Filming took place in both New York and Budapest.
